A Note About Shipping Costs
We know shipping costs are frustrating.
We hear it. We understand it. And honestly, we do not like it either.
A lot of folks are used to Amazon-style shipping now: free shipping, overnight shipping, two-day shipping, shipping that feels like it magically costs nothing. We get it. We order things online too.
But Brisket.com is not Amazon. We are a small, family-owned business shipping real boxes of real product from Texas. Our rub is heavy, and once it leaves our hands, the cost to move that box across the country is set by the carrier — not by us.
We want to be transparent about how shipping works, why it costs what it costs, and how you can usually get the best value when ordering.
Shipping Prices Have Gone Up
USPS shipping prices have continued to increase. USPS announced new 2026 shipping service price increases, including an increase for USPS Ground Advantage. USPS also announced a transportation-related temporary price increase affecting services like USPS Ground Advantage and Priority Mail.
That matters because most of our orders ship through USPS.
We are not adding some giant hidden markup to shipping. We are dealing with the same rising carrier costs that every small business is dealing with. Fuel, labor, transportation, distance, weight, and packaging all affect the final cost.
When USPS raises rates, that cost eventually shows up somewhere.
We Do Use a USPS Business Account
We do have a USPS account, and we use the best shipping discounts we reasonably can.
When discounted rates are available to us, we use them. We are not walking into the post office and paying the most expensive retail rate on every box. We use commercial/business shipping where we can, and our goal is always to pass along the best rate we can reasonably offer.
That said, discounted shipping does not mean free shipping.
A discount helps. It does not make a heavy box disappear across the country for nothing.
Why One Bag Can Feel Expensive to Ship
This is the part that drives people crazy, and we understand why.
A single bag of rub still has to go in a box or mailer. It still needs a label. It still has to be picked up, sorted, transported, scanned, handled, and delivered. USPS does not charge us based on whether the order “feels small.” They charge based on things like weight, package size, and distance.
Because of that, shipping one bag can feel high compared to the cost of the product.
That is especially true if the order is traveling a long distance from Texas.
Ordering More Usually Gives You a Much Better Deal
The best way to make shipping hurt less is to order more at one time.
Our shipping setup is tiered so that ordering more bags generally gives you a much better value. In many cases, shipping several bags of rub costs about the same as shipping one bag.
That is because the first bag has already paid for most of the box, label, handling, and trip through the USPS system. Adding more bags often does not increase the shipping cost nearly as much as starting a second order later.
So if you know you are going to use the rub — or if you want to split an order with family, friends, neighbors, hunting buddies, cooking friends, tailgate friends, or BBQ people — ordering several bags at once is usually the best deal.
We Built Our Shipping Tiers to Help
We have tried to structure our shipping so customers are rewarded for buying in sensible quantities.
For example, ordering one bag may not be the best value because the shipping cost is spread over only one item. But ordering several bags often spreads that same shipping cost across the whole order.
That is why you may see that several bags ship for roughly the same amount as one bag.
We did that on purpose. We would rather help customers get more product for the shipping they are already paying than pretend shipping is free and hide it somewhere else.
“Free Shipping” Usually Is Not Free
A lot of online stores advertise free shipping.
But shipping is never actually free. Someone pays for it.
Usually, “free shipping” means the shipping cost has been built into the product price. Big companies can also negotiate huge volume discounts because they ship millions of packages. We cannot negotiate Amazon-sized rates because we are not Amazon-sized.
We could raise product prices across the board and advertise “free shipping,” but that would not be honest. Customers who live closer to us or order more efficiently would end up subsidizing everyone else’s shipping.
We would rather be straightforward: here is the cost of the rub, here is the cost to ship it, and here is how to get the best value.
Why Shipping May Still Be Worth It
We know nobody gets excited about paying shipping.
But even with shipping included, many customers still find that our rubs are a strong value compared to other BBQ rubs, especially when comparing the price per ounce or pound.
Our bags are large. Our rub is not a tiny little grocery-store shaker. When you compare the total amount of product you are getting, especially on multi-bag orders, the math usually looks a lot better than it may seem at first glance.
That is why we encourage customers to compare the total delivered cost, not just the shipping line by itself.
Our Recommendation
If you are ordering from us and want the best value:
Order multiple bags at once when possible.
Several bags is often a much better deal than one bag because the shipping cost is spread across more product. If you cook often, give rub as gifts, split orders with friends, or stock up before holidays and BBQ season, this is usually the way to go.
Also, when checking out, make sure you review the available shipping options. In many cases, USPS Ground Advantage or flat-rate options may be the best value depending on your order size and destination.
We Are Sorry Shipping Costs So Much
We really are.
We know it can be annoying to put a few bags of rub in your cart and then see a shipping charge that feels too high. We are not offended when customers ask about it. We ask the same questions when we shop online.
But we also want to be honest.
We are a small family-owned company. We ship heavy food products. USPS rates have gone up. Transportation costs have gone up. Boxes, labels, packing materials, labor, and carrier fees all add up. We use our USPS account and available discounts the best we can, but we cannot make shipping free without hiding that cost somewhere else.
So we built the system to be as fair as we can: transparent shipping, tiered rates, and better value when you order more.
Thank you for understanding, and thank you for supporting a small family business.
